Our Repair Responsibility
The Society is responsible for keeping the structure and exterior of your property in a good state of repair.
You should refer to your repairs handbook for detailed information, some of the items we are responsible for include:
- The roof and outside walls
- Chimney and external flues
- Gutters and down-pipes
- Window sills, window catches, sash cords and window frames
- Internal walls, skirting boards, floors (not floor coverings) ceilings and plasterwork (but not painting or decorating)
- External and internal doors and door frames, hinges, locks, door jambs, thresholds, door handles.
- Gates, fences and boundary walls, providing they were supplied by us
- Steps, footpaths and ramps
- Outhouses and garages which belong to us.
- Leaks or blockages in drains, gutters and external pipework
- Equipment we have provided for heating, including water heaters, fitted fires, central heating systems and gas pipes
- Any defects in the supply of water, gas, electricity and sanitation
- Electric wiring, sockets, light fittings and switches
